Cape Lookout State Park Day Use and Campground will close in late spring of 2025 for park improvements funded by Oregon-issued General Obligation Bonds (GO Bonds). This project will upgrade the water and electrical utilities in C and D Loop, replace the D Loop restroom/shower building, repave the campsites and roads in D Loop, reinforce the dynamic revetment (foredune) that protects the campground from the ocean as well as reconfigure and repave the day-use parking lot. At this time reservations are unavailable past February of 2025, closures will be adjusted as the construction timeline becomes clearer. We expect work to occur from late spring of 2025 through the end of the year.
Beach access may be difficult year round at Cape Lookout. From October through March winter weather may cause closure of part or all of the campground. Call park for updates.
Seasonal Beach Restrictions March 15 - Sep. 15
Beach restrictions in effect during western snowy plover nesting season. Foot and equestrian traffic on wet sand only; all other recreation is prohibited. Information: oregon.gov/plovers
Please be aware that all garbage dumpsters in the overnight campground have been removed. To help retain the natural beauty of the park for our visitors, we ask that all garbage be brought to the trash compactor located near the registration booth and not left in the restrooms or at your campsite. A central recycling station is located beside the trash compactor.
